A day trip to Valencia

A day trip to Valencia

Since summer is an amazing time to enjoy an amazing Spanish vacation, we were wondering where to go next… and then we thought, how about a day trip to Valencia?

Grandeur and style are the first things that come to mind when we say Valencia. The third city in Spain is also one of the busiest ports in the Mediterranean Sea. Established by the Romans in 138 BC, Valencia is home to UNESCO World Heritage Sites and to an outstanding Spanish legacy.

Valencia is renowned for the Falles Festival and for the paella, which apparently originates here. There are dozens of emblematic sites in Valencia, among which the Lonja de Seda, a 15th-century Gothic building which where “silk exchange” was performed once upon a time – the famous silk of Valencia was traded and sold all over the world. The Loja is daily open to the public and sometimes used as a venue for all sorts of events and exhibitions.

If you want to spend a day outdoors with your family, you should definitely go to Bioparc Valencia, a zoo that takes it to the next level, providing wild habitats and a lot of space to the animals. Madagascar, the Savannah and Africa are faithfully recreated (on a reduced scale, of course).

If you are a secret nerd, Valencia welcomes you wide arms wide open to the Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias, an outstanding European center dedicated to science and culture. It is a compound that includes the Principe Felipe Science Museum, the Oceanographic Aquarium, a digital cinema, the Agora concert space and the Reina Sofia Opera House. Ample entertainment for all tastes can be provided here.

The Museo de Bellas Artes explores the artistic legacy of the Valencian region and if you are looking for something spectacular, visit the Palacio del Marques Dos Aguas, a wonderful Ceramics Museum hosted in a flamboyant 18th-century mansion.

If you are staying in the region, you can employ an Alicante airport transfer to take you to Valencia and back. In town, you can book with Valencia car rental.
