As part of this year’s tour, David Bisbal is coming to Alicante once more on August 3rd. The great latino artist will come to town bringing a lot of energy and excitement along with him. You are all the guests of honor.

On August 8 at ADDA (Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante) you are invited to the Gala Festival Internacional de Jóvenes Orquestas, a festival meant to bring to the fore some of the most gifted young musicians who prove that talent has no age.

The Centro Imaginalia in Alicante organizes a talk about the lyre, a magical instrument hailed by the ancients and popular throughout the ages in all civilizations. The lyre represents mysticism and magic, but also love and death and the endless lyricism of music.

And if you are in for some romantic music, Pablo Alboran is going to be visiting Alicante on August 18th. This very popular artist will be ready to give a concert that will move people and make them all happy for a while.

4. Do you remember what we said last time about the Santa Maria Church? That it is a symbol of old Arabic construction turned into Catholic / European symbol. Well, the architecture symbol of Alicante, the Santa Barbara castle, perched on the idyllic hilltop overlooking the entire town, is just such an example as well. It is one of the largest medieval forts in Europe and stands tall on the site where a Moorish building used to stand in the 10th century. The Museo Etnológico de La Vall d’Ebo in Alicante is one of the top cultural attractions to explore. It seeks to faithfully recreate the life of the ancestors of the Alicante locals today. Tools, clothes, arts and crafts that bring to life again the customs of lives of people that used to walk these lands are available, on display, for you to explore and admire.

La Vall d’Ebo also harbors another fascinating and somewhat underrated tourist attraction: La Cueva del Rull, a fascinating cave where you are welcome to hide away from the heat and the sun for a little while.

Artists Tadeo and Malu have concerts scheduled in Alicante this June. As for cultivated, classical music, if you want to see brilliant piano player Haochen Zhang in concert in Alicante, June the 3rd 2016 is the day. The event is scheduled to take place from 8 PM at the Auditori Teulada Moraira.

Fireworks are at home in June as well as part of the popular celebration Hogueras de San Juan, whose date is yet to be confirmed.

Christmas – or Navidad, as the celebration is locally known – is a magical time of year on the shores of Costa Blanca. Although the warmth and lack of snow and the warm weather might not seem to fit the traditional image of a white Christmas, just imagine the winter celebration without freezing hands and getting stuck in the traffic due to the heavy snow.

The local cuisine is a cultural element worthy of all the attention. It can speak volumes about a certain people and it can brighten a vacation day. Taste can provoke a lasting memory as well – and why not make it a good one?

The Spanish cuisine combines European, Mediterranean and Oriental influences into a specific flavor. Here are a few of the most popular regional dishes that you can sample in Alicante:

1. Tapas are perhaps the most popular side dish in the Spanish cuisine. But did you know that they actually come from Alicante? Delicacies placed on a toast bread used to be served to voyageurs in the past.

2. Turron is a type of nougat that combines fruits, chocolate and/ or nuts. The Alicante variety is harder and usually served on Christmas. During summer, it can be turned into ice cream.

3. Every year 115.000 tons of rice are produced in rice. No wonder there are many rice dishes to be sampled here. Arroz a banda is maybe the most emblematic. The rice is prepared with fish, garlic, spices and pepper. Some even prefer it to paella.

4. Alcachofas de Almoradi are a real green symbol of the region, who grows artichokes and even honors the vegetable with an annual festival.

5. Fish is very popular here, but the Spaniards love meat as well. As a reminder of the Moorish time, lamb is cooked in various forms, one of which is called Tombet Valencia. Lamb cooked in olive oil is seasoned with garlic, herbs, spices and nuts. The sauce that is served with it is made of hazelnuts, cinnamon, saffron and other spices.
